ABOUT MELBOURNE SAKE

Melbourne Sake is Australia’s first craft sake brewery.
Their mission? Plain and simple: to make distinctly Australian sake, using local ingredients, and catering to the Australian palate.

The debut sake hit shelves in 2021, and now, their 2023 line-up is up for grabs!

The journey began back in 2014, when Matt Kingsley-Shaw and Quentin Hanley joined forces at a Melbourne wine bar. Sake was still a foreign concept to them, until a mind-blowing meal at the now-defunct Kappo on Flinders Lane changed everything. That experience catapulted them headfirst into the world of sake, mesmerised by its diversity and depth of flavour.

Over the years, they delved deeper into various styles and producers, even trying their hand at home brewing. Yet, as loyal supporters of local craftsmanship, Matt and Quentin found themselves yearning for an Australian craft sake brewery. Fuelled by their Kappo revelation and fuelled by countless nights of sake "research," they realised if they wanted it done right, they'd have to do it themselves. Thus, Melbourne Sake was born.

ABOUT SAKE

Now, this is a rabbit hole that our friends at Melbourne Sake have well and truly explored, so click below to learn more!
