Local ACT brewers have begun working with the ACT Government to deliver a new pilot program called ‘Brewed To Succeed'.
The pilot program aims to meet the diverse requirements of Canberra’s local brewing industry.
The pilot will be delivered through a partnership between The Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) and BentSpoke Brewing.
Richard Watkins, Co-owner and Head Brewer at BentSpoke Brewing, hopes the program will empower newcomers to enter the beer industry with the necessary knowledge to hit the ground running, while simultaneously enhancing the skills of employed brewers.
In the ACT, 0.7 per cent of the labour force is in the brewing industry, which is more than double the 0.3 percent proportion in Victoria and Western Australia.
The first student brewers are expected to undertake training from April 2024.
